25 Fun Classroom Christmas Party Ideas For 4th Grade - The Big Ideas Educator (2024)

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! But before you can relax on Christmas break, you have to plan a special holiday party for your sweet fourth graders.

Below are my favorite classroom Christmas party ideas for 4th grade. Of course, these could work really well for third graders and fifth graders, too! You may be at a school that celebrates with a winter holiday party, and there are some great ideas here for that, too.

I tried to include activities where most of the supplies can be purchased at your local dollar store, since we obviously can’t be spending tons of money on a classroom party.

Classroom Christmas Party Ideas for 4th Grade

1. Christmas Prize Punch Board byThe DIY Nuts

This game is fairly low-prep and fun for kids. It’s designed to resemble a Christmas tree. Kids get to punch out the tissue paper to reveal a small prize or party snacks in the bottom of the cups. If you want to use heavier or more expensive options, they can punch to reveal a number on a slip that corresponds to a wrapped gift.

2. Christmas Roll-the-Dice Gift Exchange Game byTwo Kids and a Coupon

I love this game! I’ve played it several times before and it’s always a big hit. Everyone begins with their own wrapped gift and is seated in a circle. A die is rolled that corresponds to an action the group must take, such as pass to the left, pass to the right, steal a gift or unwrap. Play continues until everyone has gotten to roll the die.

3. Christmas Bingo byTwo Kids and a Coupon

Here is a simple game for elementary school students. Everyone knows how to play bingo, so it’s a great game that doesn’t require much introduction. Kids don’t listen well to directions at class parties!

4. Toilet Paper Snowman Game bySunshine and Rainy Days

Each team gets a ziplock bag full of supplies (including toilet paper) to make a giant snowman. Any team member can be the “snowman” who gets decorated. There’s a friendly competition and voting supplies, too.

6. How Many Words Can You Make Printable Activity bySimply Full of Delight

If your 4th grade class needs a quiet activity while you prep something else, this little list builder could be made into a simple competition.

7. Christmas Song Emoji Fun Printable byOne Simple Party

Here’s another printable competition worksheet. This one requires students to use emojis to figure out the name of the Christmas song! Work in partners to amp up the fun.

8. Christmas Charades byOne Simple Party

Christmas Charades is great for your 4th grade party because you won’t have to spend lots of time explaining the rules. After all, everyone has played some version of Charades at least once!

9. Easy Abstract Christmas Card byEasy Peasy and Fun

Celebrate the artist within each of your students by facilitating this Christmas craft. Then, they get to give it away to someone they love.

10. Popsicle Stick Santa Craft byLittle Ladoo

This little fun craft is so cute! 4th graders will enjoy putting it together at your classroom party, and it should take up a decent amount of time. It’s a great way to get in the holiday spirit.

These pixel art printables are great for 4th grade because you can keep the kids busy while you pass out gifts or snacks. It’s a nifty little placeholder to keep kids calm and seated as you set up your party.

This is such a cute idea and would allow the kids to make their own Christmas gifts for family members. The jingle bells make for such a festive mood (unless they make you want to gouge your eyes out, lol).

16. Christmas Tin Can Bowling byRed Ted Art

To add an extra layer of fun to this simple holiday game, have each table group be responsible for decorating a can. They might enjoy the game even more if they helped create it! If you’re having a holiday party, you can have each table make a snowman can.

I love Grinch themed parties because kids just adore the whole movie. This card making craft would be a fun addition to your holiday season, and kids would have the opportunity to give it away.

18. Rudolph Ring Toss byRed Ted Art

This fun game is a bit more difficult than the Christmas tin can bowling, so it may be better for 4th and 5th graders. You can have the kids make your pipe cleaner rings! It’s a fun way to keep them busy for even longer.

19. Christmas DEAR Day by Me (The Big Ideas Educator)

DEAR day can be so special. If you’re like our campus, Christmas parties are held on a half-day. While the party itself only lasts an hour, you’ve got several instructional hours to fill before then, and it’s not going to be a day for new material. Why not wear pajamas and make it a cozy, Christmassy reading experience until the excitement begins?

20. Art for Kids Christmas Drawings byArt for Kids Hub

My daughter is an artsy kid and absolutely loves Art for Kids Hub. We used to do these as a class sometimes when we had indoor recess, but they have so many Christmas drawings available that you can absolutely make it a party activity.

21. DIY Christmas Window Craft bySingle Girl’s DIY

Kids love to make Christmas ornaments, and this one is pretty cute and simple. Making an ornament as part of your class party is an easy way to use up some time and engage kids in the joy of making art together. Consider offering a variety of fabric scraps so that everyone’s final product looks a bit different.

22. Easy Bead Candy Cane Ornament bySimply Full of Delight

There is something very soothing about threading beads onto pipe cleaners. Almost anyone can do it, and yet it never gets old! These candy canes are awfully cute, and they’ll enjoy hanging it on their own tree.

23. Homemade Christmas Crackers byAnn’s Entitled Life

I wasn’t familiar with the term “Christmas Crackers” because it’s British, but we used to make this craft for football games as PeeWee cheerleaders! You fill up a toilet paper roll with candy and then wrap it in gift wrap or tissue paper. We would toss them into the football stands! Kids can then give these as gifts for friends.

24. Christmas Activity Book byHomeschool and Happiness

My favorite way to use these activity books is as an early finisher activity during the party. They can just remain on the desks and be a take-home activity, or you can have them work in their activity books as you set up a special snack, or when they’re “out” of a game waiting for others to finish.

For those of us without room moms or an active PTA, sometimes you have to keep much of the class busy while you give attention to a select few.

25. Gingerbread Christmas Ornaments by theInspiration Edit

Older kids in upper elementary school love crafts because they are so heavily tested now after 2nd grade. This little activity is so much fun.

While a gingerbread house might be an overcommitment, you can certainly pull off these gingerbread Christmas ornaments at your class Christmas party. The best part, as always, will be getting to give them away to a family member or friend.
