Soap making is just fun. It’s even more fun when you can share it with others! I recently shared 5 Fall Soap Recipes with you and they are still a hit. Since it’s that time of year again, I thought it would be fun to share 5 MORE Fall soap recipes with you.

This time I want to share more on how you can color your soaps for beautiful (and natural, of course) Fall colors.

Natural Fall Colors in Fall Soap Recipes

Muted sunset colors are super easy to make naturally within soap. This makes the reds, oranges, and yellows of Fall soap recipes easy to achieve simply by adding the colors at trace.

You can get different shades or even brighter colors by adding color at different times (like adding annatto seeds to oils or spirulina to lye water), but for simplicity these 5 Fall Soap Recipes will just suggest to add the colors at trace.

Feel free to experiment with other methods suggested below. You can always use these recipes as bases to work off of. For example, use the same amounts of oil, lye, and water, but change the coloring and scents to suit your needs. Use what you have or change it up.

Use the tallow recipe if you love tallow, or use the vegan recipe if you need a vegan recipe. But use any of the colorings or scents used in any of the recipes interchangeably.

Remember, color can be added to the lye water, to the oils, or at trace. Get ALL the details of when the best place and time is to add colors in my book, Natural Soap Making Book for Beginners.

For the longest time, all I did was add colors at trace. These are a simple stir in (remove a scoop and stir in color to ensure there are no lumps. Sometimes it speckles, depending on the type of coloring, which can be very pretty as well.

Adding Color at Trace? Try things like:

But you can get richer and brighter colors sometimes by adding them to the lye water or infusing them into your oils before you begin.

Adding Color to Lye Water?

Adding Color to Oil?

Oils tend to make the brightest colors. It’s easy to infuse oils. Simply gently heat the oil with the herb, seeds, or powder in it and then allow to cool. U that oil in your recipe. For example, if your recipe calls for olive oil, infuse olive oil. if it calls for avocado oil, then you can infuse that avocado oil. Your choice.
