How many points do you need for AKC fast agility? ›

Total points required at each level to qualify: Novice 50 (30 obstacle points + 20 Send bonus = 50), Open 55 (35 + 20), and Excellent 60 (40 + 20). There is no penalty for repeating jumps or tunnels. Weave poles and contacts, however, may only be repeated if faulted.

What do I enter—Novice A, Novice B or Novice Preferred. Novice A is for a handler that has not put a title on a dog in AKC agility. So if you do not have a title in any other class you go in Novice A. Everyone else enters Novice B.

A score of 70 or higher is considered a Qualifying Score in all classes of 4-H agility. It is critical that the equipment used in agility be safe for the dogs and handlers.

Qualifying scores

As long as a run is under the SCT and free of faults, it is a qualifying run (also called a “Q”). In higher levels of agility competitions you need several Qs. In AKC agility for example, QQs are required to reach the level of Master Agility Champion.

Preferred is defined in accordance with AKC jump height requirements that allow a dog to compete at 4” lower than their standard (regular) height as determined by their jump height card and according to AKC Height Measurements.

Must I have a purebred dog in order to compete in dog agility? No. A competitor may compete with any dog, purebred or mixed breed in USDAA events.

Preferred Agility Champion: In order to acquire the title, a dog must achieve a minimum of 750 championship points and 20 double qualifying scores obtained from the Master Preferred Standard Agility class and the Master Preferred Jumpers With Weaves class.

This class has 15 obstacles with points assigned to each. 6 of the 15 must be single bar jumps. The remaining obstacles will be assigned a value from 2-10 points each by the judge. This class requires a handler and dog to have some distance work.
