Steel boned corsets tend to be sturdier and made from high quality materials. If you've ever held a fashion corset and authentic corset at the same time, you can instantly see and feel the difference. Authentic corsets feel sturdy and durable, where as fashion corsets feel light and flimsy.

Once you've worked up to it and have a fully seasoned corset, you'll want to wear your waist training corset around 8 to 12 hours a day and regularly to see the best results. You might also notice that your appetite changes a little bit while you waist train, which will contribute to the results you achieve.

Wearing a steel boned corset due to certain reasons can add an extra layer of complication to the airport security process. While you may be allowed to keep the corset on, there is always the possibility that the metal components will set off the scanners and require further investigation from TSA agents.

Most experts recommend about two weeks to properly season a corset. For the first three days, wear it no more than two hours at a time. Pull the laces tight enough so that the corset is snug, but it shouldn't constrict. You should be able to slip several fingers in the top or bottom.

Both steel types are springy enough for everyday corset training but spiral steel bones will give more movement as they bend a lot easier than their solid counterparts which like to spring back into their original position, hence the name 'sprung steel bones'.
