HOW TO PLAN A DINOSAUR BIRTHDAY PARTY
Are you planning a birthday party for your little one who loves dinosaurs? Look no further! A DIY dinosaur birthday party is the perfect way to create a fun and memorable celebration, while also staying within your budget. Here are some tips and ideas to get you started:
Invitations: Set the tone for the party with fun invitations shaped like dinosaur footprints or featuring a T-Rex. You can easily create your own using construction paper and some markers, or find printable templates online. Or you can do what I did and use a Canva template to create an e-vite and text it out!
Decorations: Transform your party space into a prehistoric jungle with green tablecloths, balloons, and streamers. Create a balloon garland that acts as decor and will also double as a backdrop for photos.
Food: Another fun idea is to get creative with your food by giving it dinosaur-themed names like “dino-mite sandwiches” or “pterodactyl wings”. Cut sandwiches into dinosaur shapes using cookie cutters, and serve fruit skewers with dinosaur toppers. For dessert, make a volcano cake with red frosting “lava” and little dinosaur figurines climbing up the sides. I’m more of a DIYer than a cook or baker, so I went with chocolate Easter eggs and labeled them “dino eggs!”
Activities: Keep the kids entertained with a variety of dinosaur-themed activities. This party was in March, so I kept them occupied with indoor activities including inflatable dinosaurs from Amazon. Set up a “dig site” where kids can search for buried dinosaur bones or fossils. Create a dinosaur scavenger hunt, where kids have to find different dinosaur figurines hidden around the party area. For more hands-on activity, have the kids make their own dinosaur masks or hats using construction paper and markers.
Party Favors: Send your guests home with a dinosaur-themed party favor, such as a small dinosaur toy or a bag of dinosaur-shaped cookies. You can also create a “dinosaur egg” goodie bag by filling plastic eggs with small toys or candy. I opted for an “Adopt a Dinosaur” station where each kid cold pick one to take home and goodie bags made with Canvas Bags from BurlapFabric.com and added a cute “3-Rex Crew” iron-on vinyl decal. I filled them with dino tails and glow sticks (from Dollar Tree), and some foam dinosaur crafts I found at Hobby Lobby.
COUPON ALERT: Used code WHISKEY&WHIT5OFF on BurlapFabric.com to save $5 off any $5+ order!
With these simple ideas, you can create a fun and memorable DIY dinosaur birthday party that your child will love. Get creative, and have fun!
