Jenna Ortega Didn't Care For Her Malfunction, But Apologized To The Designer Olivier Rousteing

It was a stacked cast for Scream VI, with Jenna Ortega center stage, playing the role of Tara Carpenter. The film received positive reviews for the most part, and in addition, brought in $169 million.

The premiere was supposed to be a celebration of the film, and its legacy. However, a simple blue ink stain changed everything... Ortega was dressed in a stunning black-and-white tuxedo minidress by Jean Paul Gaultier Couture. However, there was a noticeable blue sharpie marker on the top.

Although it was minor, the story blew up. Still, Ortega wasn't fazed at all, and took to X. She wrote, "SCREAM VI premiere @screammovies #tiffanyandco #sharpiestainwhogivesas--t, #imsosorryolivier."

The apology Ortega was referring to was for designer Olivier Rousteing, who created the stunning dress. There are photos of Ortega trying to block the marker, but aside from that, she was unbothered throughout.

Fans Noticed Olivia Munn Getting Nervous When She Realized Her Wardrobe With David Letterman Was Too Revealing

During Olivia Munn's interview with David Letterman, fans caught the actress looking at herself on the monitor in distress.

Fans never got to hear the actual story of how the ink stain came about in the first place. In addition, the reaction was that the media had largely overblown the incident. Calling it a wardrobe malfunction was a little much, most can agree.

  • Fans on YouTube wrote:
  • "A wardrobe malfunction is when one's private parts are exposed because a bit of the clothing becoming misplaced, not a bloody sharpie stain."
  • "Everyone’s in love with how she didn’t care about the stain, but I love with the fact that she apologized to Olivier. She essentially said “The stain doesn’t matter in terms of aesthetics, but I am sorry that I messed with this artist’s creation that he trusted me with.” Like the fact that she says it’s not a big deal to the general public while a openly acknowledging that it may be a big deal for Olivier is really cool."
  • "Honestly, I didn't even know about the stain until it was made bigger than it was...regardless or not doesnt matter she looked amazing per usual and owning the red carpet also it was blue, a coincidence i think not!! Verified beautiful, talent and overall down to earth that's what that meant."

It is clear, given what the fans had to say, Ortega handled the matter in the best possible way.

Jenna Ortega's Hollywood Peer Scarlett Johansson Faced A Worse Scenario During A Premiere In Venice

For Scarlett Johansson, the wardrobe was far from the issue. Instead, it was deemed as her "best dress ever." Nonetheless, the experience turned out to be worse than she could've ever imagined, and a complete nightmare for actors. Scarlett's film Under The Skin was booed at the Venice Film Festival. Johansson admits she froze, and was on the verge of tears.

"It was the first time I had seen the film with an audience and the first time I saw the film finished. And I was on this huge mezzanine so I felt super-exposed," she recalled. "Then at the end, when the lights came up … there was this sound of people cheering and booing at the same time, but with equal gusto. I didn't know how to react to it," Johansson continued. "I think I was just … I wouldn't say disturbed but I was sort of shocked."

Kim Kardashian Had A Look Of Concern After Realizing How Revealing Her Jimmy Kimmel Live Outfit Was

Almost a decade ago, Kim Kardashian regretted not doing a sit test before her interview with Jimmy Kimmel.

Much to Johansson's shock, director Jonathan Glazer was content with the reaction.

"I looked over at Jonathan and he was filled with glee. Absolutely thrilled," she added. "We left the theater and I was like, 'That was so strange,' And Jonathan was like, 'That was the best reaction! That was the most amazing sound I've ever heard in my life.'"

Johansson was able to find a positive, and that was the fact that the film got a reaction from the audience.

Although it got a rocky reception, its status improved in the years that followed, with the film actually getting a decent following of supporters.

Jenna Ortega Is Far From The Only Actress Who Was Unapologetic For Her Wardrobe

It won't be the last time a certain wardrobe makes the headlines. In this instance, similar to Jenna Ortega, Natalie Morales clapped back after her Late Night With Seth Meyers outfit was deemed as too edgy for TV. Morales took exception to claims, and held her own.

“Apparently people are making a big deal out of cleavage like breasts haven’t been around since the actual beginning of human kind,” she tweeted. “Get a LIFE. It’s a body part. A great one, but so are eyes and arms and fingers. I DO NOT HAVE TIME FOR YOUR MUMMY ISSUES I GOT SHOW TO PROMOTE."

Oddly enough, NBC might've had a problem with the interview as it was removed across all platforms, including the NBC website and YouTube. This was likely due to the amount of negative comments on the clip, which took away from what Morales was trying to do, which was promoting her project of the time back in 2019.

Thankfully, the moment didn't slow her career down, recently enjoying massive exposure as part of the Grey's Anatomy cast.
