Hey everyone! I am a new grad and I will be starting at Lockheed as a systems engineer in July. I have a question about the 9x80 schedule - as a salaried employee, am I expected to clock in and out? Or is 9x80 a nominal thing where i basically can come and go whenever I want as long as i get my work done and i get every other friday off? How does the flex schedule work? Current ts/sci holder if that matters.Reason im asking is i always hated high school and the like because i hated being locked in somewhere for x amount of hours per day. I love the flexibility of college where i can just do my work where i want when i want, and when its done i can just go home. Thanks!TC: đŸ¥œ (97k)

Dolby had 9x80 schedule. I loved it. But now with WFH everyone is enjoying it too.

Every alternate friday was off for us. So you had to work for 9 hours, 9 days a week.

It is different per team. As a software engineer on my team I can flex my time as hard as I want. I can work 12 hours one day and work 4 the next. I can stop working halfway through the day. And pick up later.Flexibility is great for Lockheed in my opinion. Some teams do things differently but generally if you hit 40 hours a week it doesn't matter.9x80 is just you work 9 hours every day which gives you an extra 8 hours every two weeks so you get the Friday off. However I'm on a normal 8 hr day schedule as it gives you the most holiday time off. But when it comes to actually working I work 10 hour days and then get every Friday off

I see, so basically they do make you clock in and out but as long as you hit the hour requirements they dont care when you do it

Yeah for me at least on my team. You definitely need to hit 40 hours every week as I'm fairly certain the time tool requires it. You don't "clock" in and out but just put your total hours in for the day.Keeping time is very important at lockheed. As a contractor we have different efforts for things and different buckets of money to pull from. Just talk to your manager, the people at Lockheed are generally super nice and accommodating. No need to go through blind to find out information when you can hear exactly everything needed if you just ask your manager

You are expected to fill out a timecard every day. This is less to track employees as it is to bill the government. For most employees their time is billed directly to the government whether or not you're getting payed for it (unpayed overtime). There's only one sure way to get fired from LM and that's time mischarging. As far as the schedule of 9x80 and policies surrounding it; it kinda depends on your individual job but the corporate policy is that you have as much flexibility as your job allows. Most of the company gets to choose between 4x10 or 9x80 and beyond that if your job and manager allow it you can shift your time however you want. For example if I decided not to work today and work Friday and only work 40 this week I can (rather than the 44 hours of my standard 9x80 schedule)

Time charging is also just a website where you input a program # and the # of hours. If you don't do it every day you get an automated email. If you get that a lot you and your manager start getting yelled at. The trick is to put in an hour of vacation every day on Monday and then you won't get yelled at and just need to have your timecard done at the end of the week. Some more flexibility I forgot to mention is that if I wanted I can forward as many hours as I want on Friday to the next week. So if I already had 40 by Friday and worked a 12 hour day I could forward all 12 and only need to work 28 hours next week.
